Tire assembly

1. Fit tyres only on a rim recommended by a car manufacturer and do it only in special workshops.

2. Never mount tyres with different tread patterns on one axle.

3. It is necessary to balance all wheels including spare one. Driving with out-of-balance wheels is very dangerous. Besides, such tyres wear quicker.

4. Mount tyres with directional tread pattern in accordance with an arrow on a sidewall which indicates the direction of rotation at forward driving.

5. When you have mounted new tyres run them in the distance of at least 100 km at speed not more than 80 km/h.

Tyres running

1. Do not exceed values of maximum permissible load and speed. Overloading affects negatively on a tyre life.

2. As soon as average ambient temperature is lower than +7°C, replace your tyres with winter ones. At low temperature gripping of summer tyres with a road surface worsens significantly.

3. Do not use winter tyres in summer because tread wears much quicker.

4. Use studded tyres only in case roads are covered with ice.

Routine inspection

1. Inspect your tyres every two weeks in order to find possible damages in time.

2. At regular periods check a camber/toe-in of front wheels. Improper adjustment can cause significant degradation of steerability, besides, it results in non-uniform wear of tyres.

3. Check pressure in tyres at least once per month. Pay attention to the fact that values of pressure can be accepted as correct ones only if they are measured in a “cold” state of a tyre. It is necessary to observe the recommended inflation pressure of a tyre in compliance with load applied to it. Tyres with significant deviation from the optimum pressure influence negatively a car handling and extend a braking distance. Insufficiently inflated tyres have got quick wear and high fuel consumption. Tyres with excess inner pressure reduce gripping with a road and stability at braking.

4. A spare wheel is to be regularly inspected and checked as well because any time it could become a running one.

Replacement

1. Depending on a model, tyres have different depth of tread. While running a tyre wears little by little and it must be timely replaced. That is why a tread depth is to be regularly checked. For that purpose all tyres have tread wear indicators - small lugs in grooves located in front of abbreviation TWI on a sidewall. When a tread height is up to the level of wear indicators (1,6 mm), it means that tyres have reached the limit of permissible wear and are to be urgently changed.

2. If one side of a tyre has worn more than the other, the tyres are worth interchanging. Timely setting of front tyres on a rear axle will also provide uniform wear, but this operation must be carried out by a specialist.

3. Even those tyres, that are seldom used, outwear with time. Cracks on a sidewall rubber and, sometimes, deformation of carcass can be indicators of “aging”. Regardless of tread depth or milage, tyres are worth replacing every 5 years.

Storage

1. Store tyres in a ventilated dry place protected from direct sunlight and precipitation. Keep far from:

  • heating devices
  • combustive-lubricating materials, acids, alkalis and other chemicals which influence rubber properties
  • any objects that can damage tyre (sharp items etc.)
